Leonardo DiCaprio speaks up for the environment

Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Action Fund has roped in the king of the world (!) Leonardo DiCaprio to support the Clean Energy, Jobs and American Power Act which is currently pending in the American senate. The bill is aimed at cutting down greenhouse gas emissions, providing green-energy jobs and formulating a cap-and-trade program. Leo is the latest spokesman for the cause and appeared in video (This Is Our Moment) posted up by the organization recently. He speaks to viewers and encourages them to email their senators, urging them to pass the bill.

“This is our moment, our moment to fight for a cleaner and more secure future,” Leonardo has said in a recently released statement, “the time is now for people across the country to stand up and have their voices heard. We all must call on the Senate to act on this historic opportunity.”

The cause also has Leo giving in to the world of Twitter and tweeting about his efforts – as well as speaking about Shutter Island along with Martin Scorsese (#AskLeo/#AskScorsese).

Leo’s cohorts in the cause include actors such as Justin Long, Felicity Huffman, Chace Crawford and Forest Whitaker who have also urged fans to follow them on Twitter and Facebook to spread the word about the This Is Our Moment campaign.
