I am too young to get married: Udita Goswami
The sultry Udita Goswami, who was last seen in Aggar, has four back-to-back releases this year.
Ask her the reason for her sudden disappearance and she says, “I was on a world tour and then got busy buying a house and decorating it. I guess I got carried away. My reality check came when I heard some people at the airport say they couldn’t figure where they had seen me,” she says.
Hadn’t she heard of the saying, ‘Out of sight, out of mind’? “I’m bad with PR. I don’t go to parties and now, I’ve stopped going to premieres. I’m a frank person and if I don’t like a movie, I say it. I don’t want to rub anyone on the wrong side, so I don’t go to the trials,” she says.
What did she think of Aggar, which was a dud at the BO? “I liked the movie. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. I didn’t like Aksar, but it was a hit. My liking a movie doesn’t ensure its success,” she reasons.
Now that Udita’s back on the big screen, she’s decided to play more safe. “I used to be very choosy about the movies I did. I didn’t want to be a part of multi-starrers. But now I’ve decided to be more open to such offers. It’s ok if I’m part of a big film and doing a role I’ve never done before. I can’t expect to have bigger roles than the heroes in the movie. And there aren’t many women-centric movies that work,” she explains. What about Fashion? “That’s one of the exceptions. It was a great movie. And I think I would have done better than the girls in the movie as I was model and I know what goes on backstage,” she says.
Udita adds that she’d do a bikini scene only when required and not just to add to the glamour quotient. “I have an athletic body and I look glamorous enough. If there’s no need of a bikini scene in a movie, why should I ask for it? As of now, none of my movies require me to wear a bikini,” she says. Udita, however, says she could never do a girl-next-door role. “I don’t have an Indian face and I won’t look good in a salwar kameez. So, such roles won’t suit me,” she says.
The actress, who’s also working with Akshay Kumar in the forthcoming movie Helloo India, is very impressed with the actor. “I’m very particular about time and arrive early on the sets. Most of actors arrive late, but Akshay is not like that. He’s as punctual as I am and that really impressed me,” she says.
Talking about her personal life, Udita says she’s too young to get married and refuses to comment on her on-off relationship with director Mohit Suri. “I know this sounds very clichéd but I really want to focus on my career now. I feel my career has just started, what with four of my movies releasing this year. So, I don’t want to talk about my personal life at all,” she concludes.
