Gwyneth Paltrow is a country singer now!
Hollywood’s been hit with a craze of singing tunes. Where some singers are simply turning to acting, others like Joaquin Phoenix have called it quits in pursuit of a more satisfying musical career. Yawn. Anyway, the latest actor to join ranks of actors-who-also-sing is Mrs Chris Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow.
According to E! Online, she has turned her attention back to music by releasing a single entitled ‘Country Strong’ which is the name of her upcoming drama film.
Right On Music has reported that the single has already been distributed nationally to country music radio stations and the soundtrack for the film is scheduled to hit stores on Tuesday, October 26. For her role as Kelly Canter in Country Strong, Paltrow was required to learn guitar and take singing lessons.
The accomplished actress, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1998 for her portrayal of Viola De Lesseps in Shakespeare In Love, received plenty of quality instruction from her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
“I had to learn how to play guitar, and I took singing lessons. It was a real challenge, but I felt like I pretty much pulled it off,” Paltrow said
But not all is country-wide smiles for Gwyneth.
Post-partum depression is a sticky subject, as Tom Cruise can surely attest, but Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t hold back. The actress recently revealed that she suffers from it. Instead of the same “euphoria” she felt with her first child, Paltrow said when she gave birth to her son Moses in 2006, she was “confronted with one of the darkest and most painfully debilitating chapters of my life.”
